Our octagonal table - Glan Y Mor School help out at Court
Over the past few months, clearance and activities at Court, Pembrey have been continuing and with the help of our friends – as you know , great progress has been made and we have been successful in keeping all the weeds at bay; we also had a grant from Cadw for the tree and ivy reduction that has made such a difference, especially with the very high winds that we have experienced recently - those trees and the heavy ivy could have done a lot of damage to the walls.

Many of you and various groups have come to visit the building and enjoyed a cup of tea and cake after your tour of the building. At the moment, we ask our visitors to sit on our range of ‘log seats’ – namely those big bits of the trees that were cut down last year!! Not the most comfortable...... It is the policy of the group to encourage and include the community in all aspects at Court and we welcome all help and encourage groups and societies to get involved with our project. Over the past few months we have been talking to Glan Y Mor School about a table that we would like the pupils to make for us. The table would be octagonal with an attached bench seating and able to accommodate up to 16 people!!! Thankfully, they agreed to help us and just before Christmas, The Design and Technology Department took delivery of the wood from LBS, Llanelli to build our table. A small group of pupils will, over the next couple of months, build the table under the supervision of Mr Edwards , the Head of the department. It will be taken in component form to Court to be completed there- as it will be too big for us to transport it once completed. The experience will be part of the pupils’ Welsh Baccalaureate qualification. We shall be following the progress with great interest and we all hope to enjoy a cup of tea and cake around our round table by early summer time. We will keep you up to date with their progress; no doubt there will be some good photographs!
