The Friends

friends overview

The Friends of Court Farm was formed in 2006.

Court Farm was featured in the 2006 BBC’s Restoration Village programme. There was a huge national publicity campaign recognising the plight of Court.

A very busy six months followed the inaugural meeting.

The programme aired on the Bank Holiday weekend and the Friends held a fun day in Pembrey and the comminuty galvanised into supporting the cause. However, disapointment  was on the horizon as we did not win the Welsh heat.

The Friends were disappointed not to have progressed to the national competition but vowed to maintain its profile.

They have maintained that  high profile by hosting and participating in  numerous community events in the county, they have also forged and maintained communications with relevant bodies both locally and nationally.

The Friends have lobbied local MP’s, Assembly members, the Historic Buildings Advisory Council for Wales, Cadw and Carmarthenshire County Council to ensure this building is saved. We have also invited various bodies to see Court , The Royal Commission for Ancient and Historic Monuments of Wales, Society for Protection of Ancient Buildings, Cadw's Historic Garden Expert ,Welsh Historic Gardens Trust and more recently Architectural Heritage Fund representatives.

By making their case heard and their persisitence in keeping Court in the public domain, the Friends have played a huge part in the acquisition of Court Farm.

The Friends are committed to this building and its future, the role of the Friends is to ensure that Court is sensitively restored to its former glory.
